our story

Since its inception in 2009, Tahoe Cup has been a combined effort of soulful paddlers, organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and exhibitors,  who enjoyed, promoted and enhanced paddlesport activities and events in the Tahoe Basin.

In the spring of 2018, the founder of the Tahoe Cup and longtime Tahoe paddler, Phil Segal handed down his race series to Jay Wild and his Tahoe Waterman crew.  " We are an honor to continue the legacy that Phil establishes with the Tahoe Cup, we are excited to take this established event series to the next level for years to come.  The goals of the Tahoe Watermans Paddle Racing Series will remain the same, gets people paddling non-motorized paddle crafts and promotes the Tahoe Waterman culture.   Thrilled to manage the newly named event series, the team at Tahoe Waterman will continue to focus on the values that are at the heart of their business with the mission to be Tahoe ambassadors, steward of the land and the lake while promoting human-power watercraft.

The Tahoe Watermans Paddle Racing Series offers both the recreational paddler and the race enthusiast an opportunity to participate in SUP, Prone Paddleboard, Outrigger Canoe and Surfskis class races on Lake Tahoe from May-September. The series invites all paddling craft to participate. The Tahoe Waterman Paddle Race Series is the primary fundraising mechanism for the Lake Tahoe Waterman Association.
